Schubert North America LLC announced that Dominik Streicher has been appointed chief operating officer of its Canadian entity, Schubert Packaging Automation Inc. Dominik joins Schubert Packaging Automation Inc. from Gerhard Schubert GmbH, the headquarters of the Schubert group, located in Crailsheim, Germany. He joined Schubert in 2000 and has gained more than 10 years of experience in electrical engineering before taking on his management career in sales and project management.

Building on its 45 year legacy in the origination, processing, logistics, and distribution of high-quality bulk grains and pulses, Columbia Grain International is expanding into the consumer products market. Their newly-formed subsidiary Enrich Foods completed its first acquisition by purchasing Great River Milling in Fountain City, WI, assuming its milling operation and a new, state-of-the-art packaging and distribution facility.

Triangle Package Machinery Co. has appointed sales and engineering professional Ken Hundley to the role of regional sales manager for the Lower Midwest. In this role, Hundley’s responsibilities include sustaining and evolving existing customer relationships and developing new accounts within the Lower Midwest U.S. territory. He will be reporting to John Cooke, director of sales.

The United Sorghum Checkoff Program launched its first Farm-to-School Curriculum, an agricultural education initiative that aims to integrate the science and production of sorghum, in addition to its nutritional value, into classrooms across the U.S. The curriculum provides educators with an array of resources that introduce students to the importance of sorghum as a sustainable, versatile, and flavorful grain that can be enjoyed in a variety of ways.

JLS has added rising sales and engineering professional Michael Cothran to its team in the role of regional sales manager–Southeast. Cothran will support and grow sales in the Southeast U.S. territory. He will report to John Kertesz, director of sales, JLS South.

PHM Brands’ Panhandle Milling and NIPPN Corporation announced plans to develop a state-of-the-art flour mill and custom mix facility immediately adjacent to the Campbell Snacks bakery in Richmond, UT. The 7,500–15,000 CWT flour mill will be constructed in phases by a PHM Brands and NIPPN Corporation’s affiliate, Utah Flour Milling, LLC, in coordination with Bratney Companies, with operations expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Finalists for the Technology Excellence Awards (taking place at Pack Expo) have been announced by PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies. More than 80 solutions-suppliers submitted nominations for this year’s awards; these were reviewed by top professionals in the industry and narrowed down to three finalists in each of the four categories. Conference attendees are encouraged to visit the finalists’ booths to see the technologies live and vote for their favorite.

At the upcoming iba in Munich, Theegarten-Pactec will present its portfolio for primary packaging of snacks at its joint stand with Winkler and Dünnebier. The supplier develops and manufactures tailor-made packaging machines for small-sized confectionery and snacks, used by manufacturers around the globe. The mid-sized family business offers a selection of more than 20 folding types and covers all performance ranges from low-speed (up to 500 pieces per minute) to 2,300 pieces per minute with its continuous high-performance machines.

American Packaging Corp. (APC) announced the grand opening of its new 275,000-square-foot Center of Excellence manufacturing facility in Cedar City, UT. At a ribbon-cutting ceremony, several dignitaries and community leaders gathered alongside APC officials to partake in the celebration and officially welcome APC to the Cedar City community. The $100 million facility, which marks APC’s sixth Center of Excellence across the U.S. and its first on the West Coast, is located at 1211 North 5300 West, Cedar City, UT.
