HEAT AND CONTROL
The food processing solutions provider showcased several technologies at the recent PACK EXPO Las Vegas show. The offerings included its Cascade Water Recirculation System, which reportedly can reduce freshwater consumption by as much as 75%, with no loss of product quality or equipment reliability. It consists of two components, the Slice Wash Module (SWSM), and the Process Recirculation Support Module (PRSM).

KIKKOMAN AND LUMINULTRA
LuminUltra has inked an agreement with Kikkoman’s Biochemifa unit to distribute the latter’s microbial monitoring technologies, geared toward helping improve food safety and hygiene, across North America. The two primary solutions involved are Kikkoman’s A3 Hygiene Monitoring System, which measures ATP, ADP, and AMP; and Easy-Plate, a culture-based technology that detects pathogens and indicator organisms.

MEALA FOODTECH
The supplier has unveiled Groundbaker, a clean-label, one-ingredient pea protein intended to replace eggs in bakery applications. According to the manufacturer, the product can perform several of an egg’s functions, enabling producers to mitigate the rising costs continuing in the wake of global avian flu outbreaks, reduce supply risks, simplify formulations, and maintain consistent quality in their products.

BÜHLER GROUP
The equipment supplier has announced a leadership shift at its Grains & Food business. Mike Häfeli (previously CEO of the Eisberg Group, and executive board member of the Bell Food Group) will begin his tenure as CEO of the G&F business and member of the executive board on January 1. He replaces the current executive Johannes Wick, who will step down from his CEO role and take on a new strategic role at the company.

KEMIN
At the recent International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE) in Las Vegas, the food solutions company showed off a portfolio of clean-label solutions. Its launches included SHIELD Pure, a cultured dextrose ingredient designed to give producers a one-to-one replacement for synthetic mold inhibitors; it reportedly can extend shelf life with no impact on taste, texture, or appearance of finished goods.

AMF BAKERY SYSTEMS
Diane Boxey has been promoted to vice president of global marketing for the equipment manufacturer. Her new role will include overseeing brand strategy and other marketing functions. After joining in 2012, she reportedly has spent the last 13 years helping expand it from a single entity to a portfolio of nine brands that currently operate seven manufacturing facilities across three continents, employing more than 800 people.
