CRB announced that it has hired Tammy McConaughy as the director of lean delivery. McConaughy has 18 years of experience in the construction industry and 15 years of experience applying lean principles to capital projects. She joins CRB most recently from JE Dunn, where she was a senior lean specialist, focused on coaching and supporting teams in utilizing lean tools. McConaughy is based out of CRB’s Denver office and reports to Mike Barrett, vice president of project delivery services. She will develop, facilitate, and support CRB’s international lean design and construction programs.

Ardent Mills has announced its intention to acquire substantially all the business assets of Firebird Artisan Mills, a gluten-free, specialty grain, and pulse milling company that is part of operating holding company, Agspring. The move comes as part of Ardent Mills’ continued focus on emerging nutrition, building upon its existing wheat flour and plant-forward business. The parties are continuing with due diligence and expect the deal to close by end of 2021.

Tate & Lyle PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of William "Bill" Magee as president, North America, food & beverage solutions, and as a member of Tate & Lyle’s Executive Committee, as of October 1, 2021. Magee joined Tate & Lyle in April 2018 as commercial vice president, North America, Food & Beverage Solutions, before being promoted to senior vice president and general manager, North America, food & beverage solutions later that year. In these positions, he has been instrumental in leading the company’s growth transformation in the region over the last three years. Prior to joining Tate & Lyle, Bill held senior leadership roles with Rohm & Haas, H.B Fuller, and Michelman.

Fiberstar, Inc. has partnered up with two new food ingredient distributors to further strengthen its market penetration in the U.S. Accurate Ingredients and Gillco Ingredients join Fiberstar’s global distributor network by offering complimentary portfolios of ingredients, technically sound sales teams, and highly responsive customer service. Both companies come with seasoned technical service in addition to a complimentary portfolio of food ingredients.

The Barry Callebaut Board of Directors has appointed Rogier van Sligter, currently co-president EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), to sole president EMEA, effective October 1, 2021, following Andrew Fleming’s decision to pursue new career opportunities outside the Barry Callebaut Group. van Sligter joined Barry Callebaut in 2004 as account manager. Prior to starting his journey in Barry Callebaut, he successfully onboarded his career in different marketing roles for various companies. He holds a Bachelor degree in International Management from Haarlem Business School, the Netherlands.

Salt of The Earth, Ltd. has teamed up with Tel Hai College Institute, Upper Galilee (Israel), to bring innovation to the table. This partnership focuses on salt- and sodium-reduction innovation and connects the academy and its students to the food industry. Two out of 15 groups were selected to participate in this program and work with Salt of the Earth. The two groups were instructed to create innovative products with a focus on sodium-reduction and flavor-enhancement. The students were guided by Rakefet Rosenblatt, R&D technologist and application manager for Salt of The Earth.

James Bonatakis has joined Rexfab as sales manager, bringing more than 35 years of baking industry experience to the North American manufacturer of integrated bakery systems and production line solutions. Bonatakis is the company’s first U.S.-based employee and helps strengthen Rexfab’s presence in the U.S. market. For more than 30 years, Rexfab has served the North American baking industry. In his new role, Bonatakis will oversee customer acquisition efforts in the commercial baking and snack industries. Additionally, he will use his experience to help Rexfab better serve its extensive U.S. customer base.

Ingredion Incorporated, a global provider of ingredient solutions to diversified industries, has announced the signing of a new strategic distribution agreement with Batory Foods. Effective September 10, 2021, the arrangement consolidates Ingredion’s distributor reach in the West and Central Midwest of the United States to help food and beverage manufacturers get the ingredients they need to produce and bring their products to market. This agreement includes the following 15 states: Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Batory Foods will become Ingredion’s authorized licensed distributor of Systems and Ingredient Solutions in these states, with an expanded view.

Heat and Control, Inc. is constructing a new facility in Lancaster, PA. The new site will expand support for the North American manufacturing industry and will meet the increased needs of pre-sale and after-market needs, including product/equipment testing, demonstrations, service support, and training. The facility will primarily support engineering, sales, service, spare parts, and training of packaging and inspection products lines. It will include an equipment demonstration center, a state-of-the art training center, and an expanded spare parts automated fulfillment center, along with an expanded office and warehouse space to accommodate an increased stock of inventory equipment. Operations at the Lancaster site are scheduled to commence in late 2021.

Bakery Concepts International is now representing Beor Bakery Equipment for the U.S. and Canada. Boer Bakery Equipment, based in Barcelona, Spain, is dedicated to the manufacture of industrial machinery for bakery, with expertise in bread, including bread lines and automated bread-scoring solutions via use of collaborative robots.
