Primera Technology
Primera Technology has announced its new AP380 Label Applicator. The applicator is designed to streamline the label application process on round or cylindrical containers, offering increased speeds and new features. The AP380 Label Applicator includes a host of features intended to make the labeling process faster and more efficient. With approximately 30% faster speed than Primera’s AP360/362 label applicators, it reportedly ensures labels are applied swiftly and accurately, providing a seamless finish on a wide variety of containers.
PFI
PFI announced it has hired Cory Williams as key accounts manager for the bakery and snack industries. Williams joins PFI after nearly a decade with Intralox where he focused on the baking and snack industries, as well as building relationships with major corporations in the space. He’s worked in food manufacturing since 2011. Williams holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and he is based in the Chicago area.
Cama North America
Cama North America is expanding its sales force with the addition of Carlos Yat as sales director, Latin America. Yat, who is based in Texas, will also serve as regional sales manager for customers in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. He will assist existing and prospective customers with case packing, cartoning, robotics, and sleeving applications. A veteran of the packaging industry, Yat has held positions in sales management and business development, as well as parts and service.
DAWN FOODS
Dawn Foods announced that its corporate executive chef and director of culinary & innovation studio, Melissa Trimmer, has received the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Pastry Chef of the Year Award 2022 from the Michigan Chefs de Cuisine chapter of ACF. The award reportedly recognizes her passion for the craft, accomplished reputation in the pastry field, and dedication to educating others by sharing skills and knowledge. Trimmer actively engages with the baking industry by participating in various events aimed at fostering culinary education and promoting diversity.
Reading Bakery Systems (RBS)
Reading Bakery Systems (RBS), a manufacturer of snack food production systems, has promoted Shawn Moye to senior vice president of global sales to support the continued growth of the business. In his new role, Moye will be responsible for new equipment sales globally and supporting the business as a member of the executive leadership team. Since joining RBS in 1999, Moye has held positions of increasing responsibility, including director of sales, North America, and most recently, executive director of sales.
Paxiom
Paxiom announced the installation of its turn-key bulk nut packaging system, designed to streamline the packaging process for peanuts and ensure freshness and efficiency at every step. This comprehensive system offers a centralized solution for weighing, filling, vacuum packaging peanuts into corrugated cases (20 to 40 pounds), and robotically palletizing them for shipment.
ABF Ingredients
ABF Ingredients, a specialty ingredients company, announced that Jeremy Xu joined the company as chief executive officer on April 9. Xu, who is currently SVP, chief innovation officer and president of global healthful solutions at Ingredion, will take responsibility for leading ABFI’s next phase of growth, driven by investment to enhance capability in both research and development and commercial activities.
Signode
Signode announced the latest addition to its Little David family of case packaging equipment: the LDX-RTB Premier case sealer. According to the company, the LDX-RTB family of case sealers is known for speed, versatility, and efficiency in case-handling applications. The new LDX-RTB Premier semi-automatic random case sealer is designed to offer flexibility in processing a large range of case sizes and fill levels at high speeds while minimizing downtime and also adding significant risk reduction feature sets that build upon the existing LDX-RTB Standard, Deluxe, and Premium models.
Arla Foods Ingredients
Arla Foods Ingredients is taking a major step toward its carbon reduction goals with the construction of an electric heat pump facility at its primary processing plant in Denmark. The €32 million project is Arla’s largest single investment in net-zero initiatives to date. Scheduled to go live in 2025, the facility at the Danmark Protein site will be able to convert 2.8MW of electricity into 8MW of heat. The shift to heat production by electricity instead of gas will cut the site’s greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 14,500 tonnes CO2 equivalent a year—a 22% reduction compared to 2023.

The Coperion line of ZSK Mv PLUS high efficiency extruders have been upgraded to include options for easier clean design to meet the highest standards of hygiene, ideal for the processing of food products. The core feature of this redesign is the twin screw extruder’s open base frame, made of stainless steel, which has only smooth surfaces, offering users numerous advantages. In addition, its accessibility reduces the downtime needed for cleaning.
