TricorBraun announced that it has successfully completed its acquisition of PB Packaging, an Australian provider of plastic and glass packaging. The acquisition grows TricorBraun’s presence in Australia and continues the company’s global expansion, and the company now operates as PB Packaging, a TricorBraun company. PB was previously owned by Pro-Pac Packaging Limited. TricorBraun established its footprint in the region with its acquisition of Cormack Packaging in September 2021.

Kemin Industries has named Jerry Savino as technical services manager for bakery in the Kemin Food Technologies – North America business unit. Savino will provide internal and external technical support services as Kemin continues to expand and invest in its portfolio of clean label ingredient solutions that help bakers extend shelf life to keep products fresh. As technical services manager for bakery, Savino will represent Kemin as the technical expert for bakery solutions, offering customer support to solve operational bakery challenges. He will assist in the identification of market trends and emerging markets, working as part of a cross-functional team to assist in the commercialization of new technologies and product solutions.

CuliNex has announced Danielle Custer has joined the innovation and product development team as a project manager. Custer will provide client support and team leadership for multiple clean label and plant-based clients served by CuliNex. She will also provide key culinary insights and inspiration to bring innovations to market faster. In her role as project manager, Custer contributes to CuliNex’s success by ensuring projects are properly scoped out, professionally executed, completed on time, and finished within budget. She participates in the sales process, oversees development teams and is responsible for all aspects of projects.

Univar Solutions México, S. De R.L. de C.V., a subsidiary of Univar Solutions Inc., a global commodity and specialty chemical and ingredient distributor and provider of value-added services, announced it has expanded its Ingredients & Specialties (I&S) portfolio through a new exclusive distribution agreement with Kalsec, Inc. in Mexico. Univar Solutions will become the sole and exclusive distributor in Mexico of Kalsec products, encompassing its Taste and Sensory Solutions, Colors, and Food Protection business units.

Kerry has launched its Kerry Discovery Hub online learning center for aspiring and growth-oriented entrepreneurs to learn about a variety of topics important to the food and beverage industry and its business growth. The portal is designed to provide the latest trend information to startups and entrepreneurs on topics ranging from plant-based innovations, consumer motivations and patterns, to integrating natural tastes and flavors, as well as functional ingredients, in their product formulations.

ADM has released its outlook on the global human microbiome market, which is expected to balloon to nearly $9.1 billion by 2026. The findings, based on research from ADM’s proprietary Outside Voice consumer insights platform, highlight the consumer trends shaping the fast-growing market for solutions that include prebiotics, probiotics, and increasingly, postbiotics. This deep dive into the microbiome segment builds on the release of ADM’s 2022 Global Consumer Trends report, which showcased the eight areas of focus for food, beverage, health and wellness, and animal nutrition brands this year.

FruitSmart fiber ingredients have been awarded the Upcycled Food Association’s new certification mark. FruitSmart specializes in premium fruit-based ingredients. Its range also includes fiber products from apples and blueberries. They can enhance consumer appeal, for example by enabling health claims, as well as providing manufacturing functionality such as moisture retention.

Furthermore, because the fibers are produced from materials left over from FruitSmart’s Cold-Press fruit pressing, they can be labeled as upcycled.

EverGrain has announced the launch of its scientific advisory board to unleash the full potential of brewers spent grain (BSG) and its benefits to human health and environmental sustainability. BSG is the nutrient-rich byproduct of the beer brewing process. Five scientists from leading universities in food, nutrition and health, agriculture, and environmental sciences will advise and collaborate with the EverGrain R&D team to accelerate the use of BSG’s uniquely sustainable plant-based proteins and fibers in nutrient-rich, low carbon foods and beverages.

IFF announced that Nicolas Gebara has been named senior vice president, commercial and flavors, Nourish, effective July 1. In his 23 years at IFF, he has held various roles, most recently serving as vice president, North America for Nourish. In this newly created role, Gebara will streamline flavors and global sales across the division’s expanded portfolio, delivering product designs finely tuned to changing consumer and market needs. He will report to Nicolas Mirzayantz, president, Nourish.

Gilbert Bundy, CEO of Bundy Baking Solutions, recently announced the promotion of Jason Tingley to president of American Pan and Chicago Metallic USA-based businesses. Tingley has been with the company for more than 30 years working his way through tool and die, design, and engineering. He was most recently vice president of American Pan. He holds several patents for the company’s most innovative and successful products including ePAN designs, TabLock trays, Uni-Lock baguette pans, and StayFlat and NSF sheet pans. In addition to his new role for U.S. operations, Tingley will have an advisory role for all Bundy Baking Solutions global pan operations.
